Here are photos of
our latest efforts in conjunction with the Red Cross, the McFarlane
family, and friends of "Lives To Save" to help bring relief
to families in need during this crisis.
During the month of October I had been filming a movie "DETENTION"
staring Penelope Ann Miller, Lobo Sebastian, and myself. On the
weekend of October 21st I was watching on the news how dangerously
close the fires were to my moms house in Santa Clarita. She wasn't
forced to evacuate but none the less it was pretty scary. The news
forecast showed how difficult these fires were becoming for the
whole state. As soon as I was given a day off from work I put "LIVES
TO SAVE into action.
On Wednesday evening
we had some friends come together for an evening of games and food
thanks to the McFarlane's hospitality and collected as much money
as we could to bring to families in need. Thursday we went to Arrow
Head Lakes mountain and witnessed the amount of great effort executed
by the fire department, and all the hard working volunteers to save
as many homes and properties as they could. We left there knowing
they were all doing the best they could. We drove down the mountains
to San Bernadina at Orange Snow and Arrow Head where all the evacuees
were directed to for shelter, food, and supplies. We witnessed the
frustration of some of the peoples loss yet at the same time there
was an air of hope in every ones eyes that no one was alone in this
ordeal and they had a place to go for assistance.
The Red Cross, ABC,
Target, big company's alike, other church, and sports organizations
did all they could to keep people as comfortable and high spirited
as they could. I found a lot of people who wanted to help us give
out the gifts that we put together through "LIVES TO SAVE"
fund raisers. They themselves were facing great losses and yet they
were willing to volunteer and help do something for some one else
as well. The feeling of giving and support was contagious through
out.
This is how it all
begins. "LIVES TO SAVE" will continue doing work like
this and giving people a chance to join us and spread the joy of
giving when people need it the most.

Friends, Thanks for your
contributions here are photos of people I met while filming my new series
for FX in Shreveport, LA.. Here are the first three recipients of the
Lives To Save fund raising efforts. They each received $300. Their hugs
and warm smiles filled with gratitude were enough to tell me that the
money was so appreciated. I wish you were there to see, hear, and feel
what this gift meant to them. In an effort not to exploit their stories
to every one in the world putting it simply they all lost everything they
owned as a result of Katrina. They are survivors and are working hard
to rebuild their lives.
